The Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) is the joint body responsible for the technical operation of the Broker Registry on behalf of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (§ 11a Para 1 of the German Trade Regulation Act, GewO). Regulatory authority lies with the individual IHKs and not the DIHK. The DIHK has not been granted any authority to oversee processes related to permits.

Regulatory Authority
The relevant regulatory authority according to § 11a Para. 1 IHKG is the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz), Scharnhorststr. 34-37, 10115 Berlin.

The regulation of permits for individual brokers and advisors is exclusively the responsibility of the regional Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs) or equivalent state authorities.
